In 2018, I returned to China to visit my relatives for the first time in over a decade. In this collection, focus was placed on walls and barriers, and how they interplay with the photographer’s own sense of disconnect between American and Chinese cultures.

The City

This collection centers on the feeling of alienation in urban spaces. These photographs place emphasis on isolation, the distancing between subject and object, and a deliberate lack of human presence.
